Breathtaking first and last takes of the most recent film by Matteo Garrone and a panorama of Naples shot from a helicopter appear to be a perfect summary of “Reality”. Viewed from a God-like height, the buildings become the size of doll houses and minute people are by nature confined by their surrounding, not wholly capable of self-fulfilment.
Sympathetic and naive Luciano (Aniello Arena) is a fish monger from Naples who increases his modest income through petty cons. One day, driven by desire to impress his nearest and dearest, he decides to take part in a reality show. An innocent satire on the world of media fiction, clad in a fairy-tale form, depicts in fact yet another, more gloomy face of the reality.
