Where would we land if we were able to pierce through to the other side of the globe and reach the other end by means of this tunnel? The question, so fertile in imagination of writers and children, became a starting point of Kossakovsky’s film. Instead of dreaming about remote places we are served with a documentary journey through the world of antipodes. Argentine and China, Spain and New Zealand, Hawaii and Botswana, Russia and Chile – those four points are located exactly on the opposite sides of the Earth. To observe those places, the camera will be soaring over the surface of the planet or piercing it through and through, negligent of physics laws. The film renounces traditional narration in favour of music that sets rhythm to the stories and points to where we are at a given moment. There are no fixed characters, unusual landscapes and their beauty seem to be of more importance.
