Janina, born in Wołyń, is 10 when she is sent away from her home to Kazakhstan. After the war, as a repatriate, she is brought to the Polish Recovered Territories, areas being abandoned by the deported Germans. She settles down in Szczecin, which used to be a German town. That is where Annemarie was born; she has to leave her family neighbourhood after the war. Two women, one house. The documentary shows the paradoxes of history, where one place can be synonymous with regained peace nut also with lost youth.
