“So silly. And they will all die anyway!” – that is what a young nun from an Orthodox nunnery in Iwanowo says about those who pursue earthly goods. Sonia lives her life differently from her friends: apart from work and prayer, she spends her time on her great passion, painting icons. Surrounded by animals, far away from family and great events, this vivid person can seem to be lost to the world. But even though the life Sonia chose is not easy and constantly requires strengthening her character, she feels truly free and fulfilled.

Radka Franczak (1980)
Graduated from the documentary course at the Wajda School. Until now, she used to do editing only, “Losing Sonia” is her debut as a director after finishing her studies.
