“Ajlawju” is a romantic and erotic comedy on a sudden love of a woman with baggage (Katarzyna Figura) and a man with a past (Cezary Pazura), the story lined with existential deliberations on silly, desperate love. Quite truthfully, Koterski points out that one’s falling in love, although dead-serious from her/his point of view, turns out ridiculous when observed from the outside. Construction of the film frequently employs aside confessions of the main character and performance of the actors is daring, tragic-comic. By means of these, the director and the actors accurately unite the two approaches – subjective and objective – to unexpected love of mature people.
“Ajlawju” was well received by wide audience however the film undoubtedly bears clear hallmarks of Koterski’s style to be recognized in, among the others, dialogues typical of him: vivid, blunt, spiced with grotesque humour.
