A rebellious premiere at the Two Riversides festival

11|07|2012

Ice-T will question the biggest rap stars in front of the camera – as a part of the MUSIC MY LOVE section at the Two Riversides we will show one of the most important films of the recent years, documenting the culture of hip-hop.

Tracy Marrow, known widely as Ice-T, rapper and actor popular all over the world, makes his debut as a director of a full-length documentary: “Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap” (2012). He puts the biggest celebrities, such as Afrika Bambaataa, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Run-DMC, and Eminem in front of the camera, and asks them one simple question: “What is rap to you?” The critics appreciated the picture for its incredible honesty in the depiction of hip-hop, revealing anew the history and inspirations of the most famous rappers of our time.

The film was presented for the first time in January at the Sundance Film Festival, and entered the screens abroad in the middle of June. The Polish premiere will take place in Kazimierz Dolny during the Two Riversides Film and Art Festival.

The picture fits within the frame of this year’s Two Riversides: the philosophy of rebellion. Soon, we will find out what form it takes on in this production.
